A fellow Tumblr writer and blogger came up with this character exercise. So I thought I’d give it a try. I will do this exercise for every character in the Dragon Queen series and post it on Sundays.
Haiku is a Japanese poetry form. A haiku uses just a few words to capture a moment and create a picture in the reader’s mind. It is like a tiny window into a scene much larger than itself.
Traditionally, haiku is written in three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second line, and five syllables in the third line. Haikus are usually based on nature, or the scenery around you, but I thought it was a brilliant idea to use a character as a focal point. So here is my haiku on Demetri Bithanos, one of my favorite characters from the series. This haiku embodies his love to kill those who are damned.
Character Haiku ~ Demetri Bithanos from the Dragon Queen Series
Eyes pierce their dark souls
Flash of silver light the sky
Bleed black, burst to dust
