Character Haiku ~ Blaze

Hey there people! I have another haiku for you. ^_^

Haiku is a Japanese poetry form. A haiku uses just a few words to capture a moment and create a picture in the reader’s mind. It is like a tiny window into a scene much larger than itself.

Traditionally, haiku is written in three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second line, and five syllables in the third line. Haikus are usually based on nature, or the scenery around you, but this Haiku is using a character as the focal point.

Blaze is an earthly bound battle angel, Andausian, and a member of special opts team in the military. She was born in Korea and raised in Japan. Like many of the guardians ordained to protect the half-breed Dragon Queen, she had to suffer death and loss to come closer to her faith and her destiny.

Battle angels born in human form are gifted with a special ability, sometimes more than one. Blaze has the ability to manipulate and brandish fire as a weapon.

Enjoy!

I’m not sure who the artist is, but this is the perfect image of Blaze. Many thanks to the artist for this stunning piece

Arrow Ablaze

“Do you see your target?”

Bird’s eye view on the demon, Blaze drew the bow string back. “Got him.”

The priest appeared at her side. He shuffled in place, wringing his hands together.

She dared to cast a glance at his way.

Nervousness screamed from his pale grey eyes. “Remember, Blaze. We’re not here to kill him. Only wound him.”

As a dark shadow, the demon crept through the forest, sniffing the air and scanning the area with a cautious eye.

“Not here to kill him?” A blue flame sparked to life at the end of the arrow then scattered down the length of it. “Perhaps you should’ve brought another Andausian out on this mission.”

She released the string, discharging the pointed missile. It bolted through the gathering of trees and found its target’s black heart. As blue flames engulfed the creature, a demonic shriek lit up the skies.

Blaze met the priest’s shocked stare. “Sorry, Father Wheeler. I don’t wound. I kill.”

Character Haiku ~ Quest

Hey folks!

Today was a lazy “do nothing” day for me, which is why I failed to post my haiku earlier. *grin* Hey, if I didn’t enjoy a “do nothing” day every now and then, I’d be a basket case.

Quest is an earthly bound battle angel, Andausian, and a member of special opts team in the military. He is also a guardian to the half-breed Dragon Queen, Rayne. Battle angels born in human form are gifted with a special ability, sometimes more than one. Quest’s ability is his acute animal senses.

Enjoy!

Also for your viewing pleasure… I wrote a flash fiction featuring the gorgeous Mexican with the bedroom eyes, Quest. Below is the image that inspired it.

Spirit

The rustling of leaves and soft sobs jarred his attention. Rifle cocked, Quest spun in the direction of the sound. He scanned the area and caught sight of a girl stooped next to a tree. “Who are you? What’re you doing here?”

She lifted her head and peered at him through her inky strands of her hair. “You are one of the Dragon Queen’s guardians?” In a flash, she stood and cleared the distance separating them.

Startled, Quest tottered back and grinned. “Slow it down, lil’ mama. My finger is hot on this trigger.”

Her blank stare sent chills rushing through him. Right before his eyes, her form rippled. Sections of her body disappeared beneath the steams of light beaming from the heavens. A spirit.

“Why’d you summon me here?”

“You and your team are in danger.”

Character Haiku ~ Rayne

Last Sunday, I posted a Haiku based on the character Demetri Bithanos from the Dragon Queen series. As promised, I’ve written another Haiku. This one is about Rayne, the deadly Dragon Queen herself.

As the offspring of two creatures spawn from the light and the darkness, Rayne was opened to a world of blood and shadows after living 20 years of her life in the guise of a human. Enjoy!

Character Haiku ~ Demetri Bithanos

A fellow Tumblr writer and blogger came up with this character exercise. So I thought I’d give it a try. I will do this exercise for every character in the Dragon Queen series and post it on Sundays.

Haikus are usually based on nature, or the scenery around you, but I thought it was a brilliant idea to use a character as a focal point. So here is my haiku on Demetri Bithanos, one of my favorite characters from the series. This haiku embodies his love to kill those who are damned.
