🎉SILENT SCREAMS Book Anniversary📚✨

Happy Book Anniversary to Silent Screams! 🎉

Pushing out a hard breath, Maurisio yanked his shades off and tossed them across his desk. For a moment, he just stood there, silently gazing at her.
Grimacing, she looked away. Those seductive turquoise eyes were so similar to Demetri’s it was downright disturbing. “Please don’t look at me like that.” She folded over and pressed her forehead on her knees.
When he didn’t say anything, she lifted her head. She met his unwavering stare and sexy grin. If she didn’t know better, she would think he found her uneasiness amusing. “You gonna fill me in on the joke? Or are you just gonna keep grinning at me like a clown?” She didn’t mean to snap at him, but she was so damn irritated…by everything.
Maurisio retrieved a thick blunt from the desk drawer and lit it. After pulling in a deep draw, he dipped his head back and blew out smoke in the shape of a donut. “For the past few months, an enticing scent has laced the air, swirling about, stirring up demons and shit. I picked up on the scent long before my pack did. I was kinda hoping they’d never catch a whiff of it. But then, you walked your sexy ass into my club today. And now, I’m on damage control.”
Rayne cut him a sidelong glare. “What are you saying? That the scent is…me?”
Head tilted, he quirked a brow and took another hit. “You really don’t know?” he asked on a clouded exhale. His nose twitched then he suddenly glanced down at his vest. Frowning, he made a tsking sound and grunted, “Shit.” Blood smudges marred the fine golden fabric.
Seeing the blood made her look down at her hands. That’s when she realized the blood came from her. Or more so, from José. “Aw noo.” It wasn’t just her hands. Crimson splatters were all over her. She launched to her feet, hoping she didn’t get any on the couch. “Oh my God, I—I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Unbuttoning his vest, he moved across the office with a fluid gait, heading toward a frosted door. “Come with me.”
Moving a lot slower than him, she followed him into another room. Again, she felt better once she was close to him.
The ambient lights flickered on, revealing a luxury bathroom. It was equipped with rich marble flooring, bronze fixtures, and a freestanding tub that called her name. Adjacent to the tub was a spacious glassed-in shower stall.
He cleared his throat as he removed his vest. Glowing wolfish eyes roamed over her. “Blood on your skin makes your scent more potent.” He opened cabinets and pulled out drawers, retrieving toiletries and towels.
“Listen, Maurisio. About what happened earlier—I’m so so—”
“I said don’t worry about it. You still dizzy?”
“Yeah, a little, but…” It kinda goes away when you’re close. She didn’t want to say that out loud, or even think about what it meant. Already bad enough she was attracted to him. Dude made her loins flutter, and that bothered her.
