I added another AI-generated character to Sector 12, the elite squad of demon hunters from the Dragon Queen Series. Quest. He’s the sensor Andausian of the team. If you have read Silent Screams—Book 1, you’ve already met him.
The three-mile trek to the temple left them invigorated. None of them seemed the least bit tired. The strange presence that breezed over them about half an hour ago increased their spiritual force. He’d dig more into that phenomenon later. Right now, he needed to focus on the task at hand. This was supposed to be a simple transport mission, but he knew better.
Posted next to him, Quest grunted and stiffened. He clutched his rifle and aimed it at the temple’s doors.
Steel groaned. The team’s sensor confirmed it. A battle would go down today.
The burning star headed west. Not good. A grey cloud formed in the distance, darkening as it drifted in their direction. Definitely not good. “What’re we dealing with, playboy?”
“Demonios malditos,” Quest grumbled without snatching his glare from the doors.
“In the temple?” Steel peered over at his best friend in confusion. “Demons can’t cross holy barriers.”
“They’re in there, bro. The sulfur is burning up my fuckin’ senses.”
“His nose has never steered us wrong before.” Jade unclipped her silver whip and chambered a round in her automatic.
“No doubt, but…” Steel cut a squinted gaze at Quest. “Ayy, man, you and I both know your nose was buried in Japanese ass all week. You sure that hasn’t thrown off your bloodhound snout a tiny bit?”
Quest didn’t even crack a smile. “Not this time, Steel. Something’s fucked up ‘bout this whole scene.” He glanced at him. “The usual demons don’t rattle me like this, and that miasma cloud heading our way ain’t making things any better.”
One more to go! Once I add Blaze, the team will be complete.
