Havoc rapped on it with the butt of her pistol. Seconds passed, and no response came. “A’ight then.” She slid back and then delivered a thunderous kick, sending the flimsy door splintering away from its rickety hinges.
Frightened gasps resounded.
The renewed stench of rotting death slapped her in the face as she stepped over the threshold. Her hard soles thumped loudly on the cracked wood flooring.
Perched on a worn velvet couch, a female vampire sat with her long legs crossed, unmoved by Havoc’s entrance. She was the perfect picture of uncanny stillness. Her complexion was a pale brown, and her eyes were blackened pools of death. But she didn’t wear the same appearance as the two vamps Havoc tussled with earlier. No black veins or green eyes. So maybe she was just a regular ole vamp, or possibly the chick Derrick told her about.
The creature arched her upper lip and cocked her head, giving off the air of a challenge. “How fuckin’ dare you.”
Havoc almost chuckled. “How fuckin’ dare I?” Every inch of her wanted to give in to the need for battle, but one thing held her back. Well, more like many things. “Just a great big happy family, huh?”
