Matching his preternatural speed, Havoc swiftly backstepped out of the house and snatched a stake from the utility belt. As she leaped off the porch, she launched the weapon at his face.
The force of the blow stopped him in midair and sent him crashing to the ground. He sprung onto his feet with his head ripped back and his jugular torn open. Black blood spilled from the tear in his neck, cascading down his chest. Then, like a waterfall in reverse, his life fluid was absorbed back into the gash as it healed.
With the stake projecting from his forehead, he lifted his head, cracked his neck, and offered her a slobbery grin.
Havoc returned his sadistic smile. “Proud of yourself?”
The creature rushed forward. Three beeps sounded in quick succession as the small explosive connected to the stake flashed red. A split second later, a condensed boom rang out, and his head blew into pieces.
The female vampire stood in the doorway, gawking at her.
Havoc brushed the creature’s fleshy brain matter from her shoulder and arched a brow. “Last time. Where’s Voldrek?”
